The Clinical Research Priority Program (CRPP) Tumor Oxygenation is a joint venture of the University Hospital Zurich (USZ), the University of Zurich (UZH) and the ETH Zurich (ETHZ).
Involved academic personnel (in alphabetical order):
The interdisciplinary nature of the CRPP Tumor Oxygenation is a tremendous added value. It encompasses (i) scientists developing novel methods to measure oxygenation specifically for the needs of the CRPP, (ii) basic researchers enhancing the mechanistic understanding of the parameters measured by the new methods and of oxygen signalling in tumors on the preclinical level and (iii) clinicians stating their clinical needs, establishing feasibility of the novel methods in a clinical environment, exploring how the newly measured tumor oxygenation is affected by different treatments and ultimately enhancing the therapy.
In order to achieve the research aims of the project, research groups from diverse clinics, departments and institutes from the UniversityHospital Zurich, University of Zurich and ETHZ will cooperate. The research groups strongly complement each other and will not only interact on a regular basis through their work but also trough meetings, research seminars, and a yearly retreat. We will further cooperate with the OncoCampus Switzerland, an organization that promotes the exchange of information and knowledge on cancer, cancer patients and cancer research. By combining the expertise of the partners of the CRPP Tumor Oxygenation, the ambitious aims of the CRPP can be achieved.
